Latest Updates from Our Project:

Daily Bugle – January 27: Morning Edition
almost 3 years ago – Fri, Jan 28, 2022 at 04:39:48 AM

Look alive, Heroes!

Time to check out the latest headline!

This edition shows that zombies are not the only ones to rise again.

Today’s Daily Reward is adding the Kickstarter Exclusive living Dark Phoenix for all backers, including her Super Hero Piece, ID Card for playing her in Hero Mode, and Spawn Card for fighting her in Zombie Mode!

Note the X-Men Resistance core box is needed to play in Hero Mode.

HERO MODE: Reduce them to ash, it’s the only way to be certain. Dark Phoenix is capable of immolating the undead around her, making short work of any threat. The more power she has, the more potent this ability. Combine this with the full might of the Phoenix Force and you have one of the deadliest mutants on the planet.

ZOMBIE MODE: Like her namesake says, Dark Phoenix constantly rises from the ashes, refusing to be vanquished by the zombie forces. Once she has spawned, she will continue to respawn for the remainder of the game! Once a threat, always a threat!

J. Jonah Jameson is already in a heated discussion with his staff about today’s Evening Edition.

Look alive, Heroes!

Time to check out the latest headline!

Colossal trouble looms ahead.

Today’s Daily Reward is adding the Kickstarter Exclusive zombie Colossus for all backers, including his Zombie Hero Piece, ID Card for playing him in Zombie Mode, and Spawn Card for fighting him in Hero Mode!

Note the X-Men Resistance core box is needed to play in Hero Mode.

ZOMBIE MODE: Being a zombie already brings a certain level of resilience, but Colossus already had that in spades. Now driven by the Hunger, Colossus has no fear of wading directly into hordes of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents and Super Heroes alike, looking for his next meal.

HERO MODE: A steel-plated zombie is trouble. When fighting Colossus, only the strongest blows will be able to actually make a dent, forcing Super Heroes to spend additional Power to even attempt to damage him!

J. Jonah Jameson is already in a heated discussion with his staff about tomorrow’s Morning Edition.

Look alive, Heroes!

Hawkeye just hit the target (as always) and now he's unlocked to all backers!

The next Stretch Goal has no interest in dying again.

If we reach $4,970k we will unlock the Kickstarter Exclusive living Elektra for all backers, including her Super Hero Piece, ID Card for playing her in Hero Mode, and Spawn Card for fighting her in Zombie Mode!

Note the X-Men Resistance core box is needed to play in Hero Mode.

Hero Mode: A master assassin, Elektra can get in, destroy her target, and make an escape before the zombies even know she was there. Her ninja skills allow her to evade pursuit, and her sai attacks are lethal and precise.

Zombie Mode: Elektra moves with deadly grace in her stalking of the Zombie Heroes. Whenever a Rush card is drawn, she gets to move again, closing in on the players when they least expect it.

Hydra Resurrection
almost 3 years ago – Thu, Jan 27, 2022 at 04:09:47 AM

Look alive, Heroes!

Cut off one head, two more shall take its place. But when the Red Skull commands an undead army of Hydra Troops, even the ones with severed heads will continue their megalomaniacal crusade. S.H.I.E.L.D. and its allies have no choice but to stand against this dark organization. Even Zombie Heroes will have no place in a world controlled by the Red Skull’s fanatical hordes.

Hail Hydra!

For $50, Hydra Resurrection is an expansion for Marvel Zombies that brings the conflict between S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra to new heights. As the chaos between living and zombie heroes rages on, the Red Skull attempts to seize power by commanding a legion of zombie Hydra Troops. Well trained and well armed, this horde will pose a threat to Super Heroes and Zombie Heroes alike. So, defend the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier and storm Hydra’s secret base, unless you want to be crushed by the Red Skull’s fist.

The regular retail price for this expansion is estimated at $60.

The Hydra Resurrection expansion comes with:

  • 1 Black Widow Super Hero Game Piece
  • 1 Ant-Man Super Hero Game Piece
  • 1 She-Hulk Super Hero Game Piece
  • 1 Vision Super Hero Game Piece
  • 1 Hawkeye Zombie Hero Game Piece
  • 1 Quicksilver Zombie Hero Game Piece
  • 1 Falcon Zombie Hero Game Piece
  • 1 Loki Zombie Hero Game Piece
  • 1 Red Skull Villain Game Piece
  • 14 Hydra Trooper Game Pieces
  • 1 Nick Fury Bystander Game Piece
  • 1 Maria Hill Bystander Game Piece
  • 6 Double-Sided Game Tiles
  • 4 Super Hero ID Cards
  • 4 Zombie Hero ID Cards
  • 4 Super Hero Spawn Cards
  • 4 Zombie Hero Spawn Cards
  • 2 Red Skull Spawn Cards
  • 6 Red Skull Action Cards
  • 12 Hydra Troops Spawn Cards
  • 4 Bystander Cards
  • 3 Tokens
  • 1 Rulebook

And if you acquire this Optional Buy in this campaign, you will also get a set of 4 extra Kickstarter Exclusive bonus Heroes! Counterparts to some of those in the expansion:

  • 1 Black Widow Zombie Hero Game Piece
  • 1 She-Hulk Zombie Hero Game Piece
  • 1 Quicksilver Super Hero Game Piece
  • 1 Falcon Super Hero Game Piece
  • 2 Super Hero ID Cards
  • 2 Zombie Hero ID Cards
  • 2 Super Hero Spawn Cards
  • 2 Zombie Hero Spawn Cards

Let’s explore each of the different things that this expansion brings to the game:

The Red Skull sees the zombie outbreak as merely another chance to gain power. Not yet turned by the virus, Red Skull still holds command over his troops, even if they themselves have joined the ranks of the undead.

Red Skull is a unique Enemy spawn that can be added to any Mission, although this expansion does feature several of its own, for both game modes! When spawned, he will make use of his unique Action deck, which dictates the special actions he will perform each time he activates. Red Skull didn’t view the Super Heroes as a major threat when they were alive, and now that they’re mostly dead, half of his master plan has already been accomplished!

As with all those turned into zombies, the mental capacities and skills of the Hydra Troops remain largely intact. While the common hordes of the undead were largely untrained in advanced use of weaponry, that is not so with the Hydra Troops. These special zombie hordes carry their own unique spawn cards, featuring a mixture of Rush and Special Actions. Perhaps worst of all, tough, is the fact these zombies can attack at range, indiscriminately firing into any melee that the players find themselves trapped in!

The six tiles contained in this expansion recreate a different location on each of their sides. Over the course of the Missions, players will fully explore these iconic places, facing their challenges and discovering its secrets.

On one side is the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier, which in itself is comprised of two levels. Up top there’s the Quinjet runway and control tower. One level down is the forward observation deck, and the bowels of the Helicarrier, including the armory, several research labs, and even a makeshift dimensional teleporter.

On the other side is the Hydra base. Investigating its treacherous corridors, players will find troop barracks, prison cells, Red Skull’s command room, and even a missile silo.

A new Interactive Object added in this expansion, Explosive Cannisters can be utilized by either Super Heroes or Zombie Heroes to take out large groups of foes! Unlike some of the more durable Interactive Objects, these are only good for a single attack. But each time they are used they run the risk of exploding, creating a danger zone that can eliminate any enemy that dares to enter it. Watch out, however, as these zones are also unsafe for the players, who can likewise suffer Wounds if they get reckless!

Hero Mode: Natasha is a deadly assassin capable of taking down even the hardest of foes with precision strikes. She knows she doesn’t have the superpowers to stand against the Zombie Heroes, so she more than makes up for it with her spy skills, which allow her to anticipate the enemies’ moves and evade their assault.

Zombie Mode: Black Widow moves in the shadows and strikes before players even know she’s there. She spawns on the last activated Zombie Hero and may be able to immediately wound them.

Hero Mode: Ant-Man’s shrinking ability ensures he can get past obstacles (and hordes) that would otherwise present a problem to other Super Heroes. He can easily sneak past the zombies, flying on an ant so he can get quickly to where he’s needed. And even if a zombie spots him, this bite-size meal doesn’t really attracts them all that much.

Zombie Mode: Players will have a hard time drawing a bead on tiny Ant-Man, placing him last in target priority order. But being small doesn’t make him weak, as his quick and powerful attacks can target all Zombie Heroes around him.

Hero Mode: Possessing the strength of the Hulk but able to remain in full control of herself, She-Hulk tactically uses her might to take down the enemy. She can tackle any Zombie Hero in a brawl, being almost impervious to damage, and capable of devastating punches herself.

Zombie Mode: She-Hulk is a real threat to any Zombie Hero, using extra movement and damage to make players’ lives very complicated.

Hero Mode: Able to phase through objects and people, Vision can move around the board with ease, evading zombies and their attacks. Meanwhile, the solar gem on his forehead can fire a beam of concentrated energy that can burn through zombies from a safe distance.

Zombie Mode: Vision doesn’t require line of sight to find the closest Zombie Hero to target, and he’s even able to attack through walls.

Zombie Mode: The city is in ruins, Clint Barton is a ravenous zombie, and he still has a bow and arrow. None of it makes sense. But hey, even when undead, you play to your strengths. And Hawkeye is an uncanny sharpshooter with an arsenal of trick weapons for every occasion.

Hero Mode: Hawkeye is great at running interference. He fires knockback arrows to push the Super Heroes around, making them easy prey.

Zombie Mode: Taking to the sky, Falcon has turned from performing daring rescues to snatching up Bystanders as he soars through the streets. Falcon has little difficulty evading S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents and striking where he wants to, aided by the extra pair of hungry eyes of his companion Redwing.

Hero Mode: Players will have a hard time keeping Bystanders safe, as Falcon quickly swoops in to feast on them.

Zombie Mode: Talk about getting a quick bite. Quicksilver can dash in and out before anyone even knows he's there, performing Devour Actions on the move. While moving so fast that his rotting skin starts peeling off his body may not look great, it does help evade attacks and accomplish objectives.

Hero Mode: A fast moving zombie is bad, the fastest Super Hero turned into a zombie is much worse. Quicksilver can move lightning fast across the board, giving players very little time to react to him.

Zombie Mode: The God of Mischief revels in his new condition, with his hungry mind focused on ruling over the zombie hordes. He uses his illusory powers to sow confusion among the S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents sent to stop him, disrupting their orders and keeping them from executing dangerous Special Actions Spawn cards.

Hero Mode: Able to blend in with lesser zombies, players never know where Loki might be lurking until it is too late.

The Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. knows you don’t need to be in the thick of things to be effective. By Rescuing/Devouring him, the player gains the ability to spend Power/increase Hunger in order to extend the Range of their attacks.

A special Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., Maria Hill has a knack for pinpointing the weaknesses of the largest of targets. By Rescuing/Devouring her, the player is able to reduce the Toughness of Brutes/Guards against their Ranged Attacks.

Backers getting this expansion through this campaign will also get four extra Kickstarter Exclusive complementary versions of characters to play with (or fight against).

Zombie Mode: She’s a lean, mean, green, eating machine. Even the strongest Super Heroes learn to fear She-Hulk when the Hunger takes hold of her. She lowers the enemies Toughness while Ravenous, allowing her to pummel any threat into a pulp with her deadly fists.

Hero Mode: She-Hulk rampages across the board, destroying walls and obstacles on her way to smash the Super Heroes.

ZOMBIE MODE: An expert at taking down any target, Black Widow specializes in finding the weak points of larger enemies, granting her benefits when targeting Guards as well as Super Heroes. Combine this with expert reflexes that have not lessened at all with her undead-state, and you have the full package of speed and lethality!

HERO MODE: One of the world’s best assassins, but now with the additional benefits of being already dead. When she spawns, she has the chance to make a surprise attack on the closest Super Hero, taking a quick bite out of them!

HERO MODE: Falcon is an incredibly mobile Super Hero, using his winged suit to swoop in and rescue those in need. Aided by his pet falcon Redwing, Sam Wilson offers amazing support capabilities for any team, assisting them wherever that’s required.

ZOMBIE MODE: Evading Falcon is an almost impossible task for the Zombie Heroes. When he spawns he immediately starts moving. And as you would expect, his movement is remarkably fast.

HERO MODE: Gotta go fast! Quicksilver is all about getting in and out of bad situations before anyone even knows he was there. Able to ignore zombies while moving, Quicksilver also possesses Skills that let him rescue Bystanders even when surrounded by the zombie hordes!

ZOMBIE MODE: Quicksilver can move lightning fast across the board already, but in addition to basic extra movement he also gains additional Move Actions when Rush cards are flipped!

If you want to assemble your heroes against the fanatical threat of the Red Skull and his zombie Hydra Troops, make sure to add the Hydra Resurrection expansion to your pledge!

Until next time, stay hungry!
